The piece about Montreal Polytechnic really hits home for me. I actually had to take a minute to compose myself after reading it. It brings back such tragic memories, but I like that the article tackles a very real question - what if? I think it's slightly ridiculous to say that if the men had stayed it would not have happened, and I think Judith makes some very good points about that aspect. It goes to show that twenty years later the gender gap is a wide as ever. Her pondering on whether it is time to stop using it as a marker troubles me though. I think we should be teaching today's young men and women about it. Here was a very powerful example of the horrors that are perpetrated on women. In the age of student's calling themseleves "ho's" and teenagers questioning what Rihanne did to tick of Chris Brown, isn't this story even more important than ever? Are we doing enough to educate our young girls and boys? I'm thinking that what we should be doing is bringing them to take back the night and making sure our daughters and sons know the long history of the fight for women's rights.

Unfortunately, the breast site will have to wait until I get home.

I know. And obviously it would have been nice to like our boobs when we were 16 because lord knows by the time you hit your 30s, it's a whole other story.

The gallery of breasts is really interesting; thanks for posting that, Sabine. I think every woman should have to review that gallery as a teenager. It would have been really helpful at 16 to see this and realise that you're not supposed to look like a porn star; you're just supposed to look like what you look like.
