- More good news from our American neighbours: a transgender hate crimes bill is going to be passed in the state of Washington.
- Followed by horrible news: 300 women’s right activists were pelted with stones in Afghanistan while they were protesting the proposed marital rape law. CBC TV reported this morning the women were surrounded by 1,000 counter-demonstrators who assaulted them with stones.
- The headline of Sarah Boesveld’s article in Monday’s Globe said it all: “The fat rise to the top–but only if they’re dudes.”
- Something really amazing happened on Britain’s Got Talent and Kate Harding really explains it best. You MUST go see this clip. It gave me goosebumps and made me cry all at the same time.
- Another consequence of the recession: there has been a spike in reports of domestic abuse in Canada, and an increase in the number of people seeking family counselling services.

- Hmm. Apparently things are being smoothed over with Amazon. Somehow I have the feeling this isn’t the end of it, though.
