Mr. Potato Head Hangover by Kevin Briody

  • An organization in the UK called Women’s Aid has released an advertisement to raise awareness of domestic violence. Trigger alert: the last 30 seconds of the full 2-minute ad, which features Keira Knightley, are pretty brutal and very hard to watch (which is the whole point). You can read more about the ad here.
  • Madonna loses her bid to adopt another child from Malawi, Mercy James.
  • Whoa. Think twice about keeping your kids from their dad.
  • The Canadian F-Blog Awards are now accepting nominations for feminist blogs in a variety of categories! It’s early days for Confabulous (and there’s no “best new blog” award), but you can go vote plus check out all the nominees here.
  • Good news for old farts! “Face it: You do become a cheaper drunk with age.”
  • Which is especially good news given the fact that it’s us ladies who are buying most of the wine.
  • There’s a very sweet and moving first-person account by a trans person named Margaret Pepper about her life and her transition.
  • More ridiculous coverage of Michelle Obama and her outfits. Today’s angle: Michelle vs. Carla!
  • Maybe you can help: Her Bad Mother is looking for her birth brother who was adopted in 1963.

Great links! Lots of interesting things to check out. I’m going to write to Canadian F-Blog Awards and suggest that they have a Best New Blog Award because Confabulous would be it!
