This pageant is like the other, but it seems more traditionnal or to be based on “values” other than only looking good although the weight, height and complexion criteria seems pretty strict!

Célibataire (single) in Québec means being not married, not a widow or separated, it is your civil status, but American pageants seem to be against the idea of their participants having an active sex life.

As for the cuisine part, I find it funny that there’ll be a test of the contestants’ knowledge of traditional Ivoirian cuisine. I guess they’ll have to cook/make a traditional meal.

I am against bleaching one’s skin, it is so bad for your skin, but BBC should definetely put more context in order to make this news-worthy!
